Hi, I'm
Howard Yang.

First-year Economics student at UCL. Curious about markets, data, and how the world works. This is where I think out loud.

Who I am

I'm Howard Yang (杨浩), a first-year Economics student at University College London. I'm interested in how economies function, why markets behave the way they do, and what data can tell us that intuition can't.

I'm learning to build things with AI — using vibe coding to turn economic questions into things I can actually explore. This site is part personal record, part thinking space.

When I'm not studying, I'm probably reading about financial markets, following economic news, or figuring out how to make my code do what I want it to.

What I'm up to

Studying
First year at UCL — microeconomics, statistics, and math for economists.
Learning
Getting started with Python — data analysis, visualisation, and small projects.
Reading
Economics & Finance
Textbooks and papers from my degree — microeconomics, statistics, and financial theory.
History & Knowledge
Currently reading A History of the World — history and ideas beyond my major.
Fiction & Literature
Detective novels, horror, and classic literature — reading for pleasure.
Thinking about
The pace of AI development and what it means for how we work and think — and separately, the renewed momentum in aerospace, from commercial spaceflight to next-generation aviation.
